Thunder Take Care of Business In Washington

A highly anticipated match up between the Oklahoma Thunder and the Washington Wizards quickly turned into an anti-climactic performance which ended in a big win for the Thunder. The Verizon Center was filled with Wizard fans that have high hopes for landing Durant this upcoming summer in free agency. KD showed the crowd in attendance what he’s capable of as the Thunder defeated the Wizards by a whopping score of 125-101.

An injury plagued Durant’s outing late in the first half which caused him to sit for the duration of the second half. He started the game with 14 points and 10 rebounds in the first 17 minutes. Towards the end of second quarter, Durant came down “awkward” as he put it, straining his left hamstring.

Even in Durant’s absence, the Thunder never missed a beat. Led by Russell Westbrook’s triple-double performance, OKC had a big over lead Washington for the duration of the game. Westbrook collected 22 points, 11 assists, and 11 rebounds in just 28 minutes while Dion Waiters scored 25 points off the bench. The Thunder also shot an impressive 51.2 % from the field and drilled 15-of-23 from behind the ark.

Washington struggled most of the game on the offensive end. While the team’s best scorer in Bradley Beal (shoulder) and forward Nene (back spasms) sat this game out, John Wall did not have much depth to rely on. Wall scored nine points and dished out five assists on Tuesday night. The Wizards were held to 39.2% shooting from the field.

Although it may not be fair to judge the Wizards on this performance due to injury and lack of depth,

Washington was depending on last night’s game to impress Durant and hopefully turn the phrase “KD2DC” into a reality. However, this would be the only matchup between these two teams until Durant’s free agency begins.

Washington will try to end their three game losing streak on Saturday, November 14th as they take on the Orlando Magic. While Oklahoma gets back in action on Friday, November 13th as they take on the Philadelphia 76ers.
